Dance-Hall night

Tonight was Caribbean and Dance-hall night at the recreation center on the “East Side”. It was a pretty good time. It kind of made me miss home, but then I thought about it: I can’t get this at home either. I only get this when I go to Canada or a larger metropolitan area.

The largest difference was the lack of alcohol. I didn’t think I would be able to get into it as much as I do when drinking, but I was gratefully mistaken!! I ventured out to the dance floor, which actually had room on it - something I miss a lot, and is rare to find now days - and just closed my eyes and moved to the music… it was really nice. Makes me wish I had gone to dance more, so I could have been “that guy” with all the moves like I was back in the day :)

They played a lot of newer stuff that I have not heard before, but the people on the floor definitely had. There were complete dances they were doing. I felt so left out lol. There were some older songs too though, and I was saved by a dance-hall version of the Cha Cha slide - I invented the Cha Cha.. so I showed my ass on that one ;)

I’ll be sure to add some time to my schedule to go dancing from now on. Never stop dancing, never grow old… right?
